Sibel (2018) is a Turkish movie that displays how certain disabilities can affect one’s life. Sibel follows the story of a young Turkish girl who is mute and can only communicate by whistling and she lives with her father and sister after her mother left. She lives in a village in the mountain where the people living there believed in folktales and stories told by the elders. The girl was struggling the whole movie with acceptance , independence , and finding her true self along the way.It is a truly heartbreaking story tha shows one of many issues girls used to face and still face in villages . It shows how gossip can spread fast and how certain things should be left and unbothered.
